Is this the worst allergy season ever?

I have read a couple of articles suggesting that for large parts of North America this will be the worst allergy season ever. I don't know if that is true, but I live in New York and I have had pretty bad symptoms already. Is it just me, or is it true that the season has already started and it is pretty bad?
 
I'm in SC so our pollen started up about 4 weeks ago and is still going. I've lived in this state 9 years now and this is the absolute worst Spring I've had here! I can't breathe, keep sneezing, my eyes are itchy (and this is with taking Allegra every day). Hopefully it won't be as bad in NY for you!!
