In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Patrick Reynolds (Paul Wesley) auditions for American Idol. Due to his terrible singing, security guards throw him out the door. He eventually finds a local rock band named "One", consisting of Felicia Weir (Torrey DeVitto), Jonny West (Antwon Tanner), Mike Bailey (David Gallagher) and Kelly Tyler (Allison Scagliotti). They were rejected at The Next Great American Band, not just for their lack of talent, but also for their dark cloud of boos. Reynolds manages to impress them with his song playing and miraculously lands the lead singer role.
The show, based The Next Great American Band created by Simon Fuller was developed by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Jeffrey Lieber, and aired on the CW network, as part of their Wednesday night "CW Rock & Roll" comedy block.
