Is this the allergy?

Hi,

I'm really prone to sinus infections, usually get them once or twice a year. I have a question on my current condition as I don't think I have the sinus infection this time around.


Alright, I never had any allergies, as a kid or as an adult now. Over a week ago, I've had a fever for two days straight and then 2 nights in a row. After that, a cold like conditions hit me, I thought it was the flu, as all these different strains are now floating around.

Well, I never felt sick, just super congested. It's been over a week now and I'm still congested, still not feeling sick. My nose is congested, sometimes both holes so it's hard to breathe and I get occasional watery discharge from the nose, the infection like mucus is just not there. I don't have watery or itchy eyes, but I do get the itchin sensation in my nose and a scratchy throat from time to time.

I've been using Afrin but it only opens me up for about a couple of hours. I just got Benadryl, it helped me sleep thru the night (I think?)

Could these be allergy symptoms? I've never had them so I can't tell.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)
 
doubt it, it sounRAB like you had a virus that is leaving you with prolonged congestion. Even if you don't feel "sick" anymore, the symptoms can last for awhile. I suspect the itching is from irritation. It's the worst when it gets where you can't breath! I'm prone to sinus infections and all that too.. hate it. Have you tried Sudafed for it?
Also, I find chamomile tea helps open my sinuses up a bit when I get that bad.
 
Yea, who knows what that is... I'm totally confused, could be a virus. Thanks for the input.
 
This sounRAB more like a virus to me. If you also had sneezing, coughing and noticed your symptoms become worse when around certain allergens like pollen, dust, pet dander, or cigarette smoke, I would think your symptoms would be attributed to allergies.

Viri can last for 2 weeks. Many years ago I had what seemed like an allergy attack, but was a viral infection. I was very congested, but did not have any coughing or sneezing. One of my teachers told me it could be allergies, but at that time, I didn't exhibit any other symptoms which would be indicative of me having an allergy attack.
