is this possible for a amp to go into protect mode help needed?

ok i have the big 3 done a 1frag cap,yellow top battery 120amp alternator 2 12inch rockford fosgate p3 dvc 4ohm and a p1000db rockford fosgate amp 1ohm stable this one http://www.hifiaudioonline.com/inc/sdetail/7080 4gauge power wire and ground grounded to the fram on bare metal ok and yes the subs are wired at 1ohm ok so when i adjust my amps gain up a little and the bass hits hella hard the amp goes into protect mode and comes right back on but when i turn the gain down a lil it dont do it is it possible for the amp to go into protect mode by have the gain and freq to high

I experienced this with every amp i have owned from a legacy to an alpine...not sure what causes it..just turn your gain down a little bit.
