Somehow, we the people, move all the blame to the politicians and don't accept any ourselves. People want to believe you can run a country, balance the budget and get us out of debt without taxes. People have been living beyond their means for a long time, dipping into their savings and going into debt to support a lifestyle beyond their means. There will always be "business" people to help us along with that, but when a whole country wakes up on payment day, they blame the politicians. The politicians are bought by the industries and corporations and all you have to do to see which ones are influenced the most is see how they vote and who they support, but no one wants to look closely, they fall for sound bites and simplistic claims pushed by those who want to gain power or have an axe to grind because it is too much trouble to find out the truth. I receive a continual string of emails about political issues that are blatant lies. When I point out to the senders that snopes.com says the message is false, they never check their messages after that but send them on with a little note saying "I didn't check this". When people can't even be bothered to take the most rudimentary efforts to find out what is true or false, they will surely end up with a distorted and uninformed outlook on politics, politicians and our whole society. The fact is, money runs the country, and it has come to run the government. The system is broken, and until the people begin to call for changing the system instead of just the individuals that are in it there won't be any meaningful change.
