I recently bought a 2002 Yamaha R1. It is fuel injected and the only mod is a slip-on pipe. I noticed that it heats up pretty fast and the engine case puts out a lot of heat, this also makes the frame hot near the engine. It was operating between 200* and 222* in stop-go traffing in town and roughly between 180* and 190* on the highway. Is this normal? Or what can I do to fix it. Oh, and the temp outside was about 95*. Thanks

id say yes my 09 r1 which has 2500 miles on it runs about 180 -190 on the highway at about 95 degrees out. but in traffic it has never been over 217. They could be programmed diff from when the fan comes on. I would not be worried about it. seems pretty decent if its 7 years older than mine and running about the same . !
