I have boneless ribs that I bought a few days ago and it says sell by 4/20 can I cook it tonight and it will still be fine? If it doesn't smell or isn't slimy then it is okay right? How slimy does it have to be before knowing it's bad or good?

you will recognize the slimy feel of it. It may even feel sticky but if it gets that far, it will also smell off or very strong. The sticker says sell by 4-20, not use by so if it smells good, no sticky feel to it, you are good to go.

The date is a sell by date to insure freshness to the consumer. Grocery stores, and meat markets generally date their products to allow 7 to 10 days after purchase, under refrigeration, before preparation. You are safe if the food smells good, and is not slimy.

If something says "sell by" it means the store must sell it by that date. Usually it means that it will still be good for about 7 days after that date.

Sounds fine. If a meat smells ok, but has a little bit of "slime" or stickiness, just rub with table salt while washing it.
