Is this Marauder a good deal?

Hi all,

I'm looking at a '99 Suzuki Marauder 800 at a local consignment shop as my first bike. (see it here: powerbrokersinc.com/show.aspx?vid=1213194&stockno=C00524 )

The guy I talked to said he'd go down to $3100. Is this a good deal? It's a touch abouve KBB ($2950). Is 32,000 miles a lot for a Suzuki?

Thanks,

Jesse

As you already pointed out, it is above book, so I would certainly not consider it to be a good deal. But it is not rediculously high either, so if you really like it make an offer. But if you look around you should be able to find a marauder with between 10 and 20K miles on it for book.

THanks for the reply.

Yeah, I know I SHOULD be able to find another one, but here is Sioux Falls, SD, the selection is a tad low. There's another one with 16,000 miles, needs two new tires immediately (sidewall cracks) and possibly a new chain (rusty). I could only get him to go down to 3,000. Ugh...

When I bought my 05 boulevard I had a specific price in mind and wasn't going to budge very much. Whe I made an offer he made a worse offer. I made another, he made another. He said this was the lowest he could go and I said It's way too high (by about $600. So we parted ways. I thought I wouldn't hear from him again but 2 days later he called me and made me an offer I couldn't resist. OTD it was about $5500, and the bike only had about 1100 miles on it. Try to make him an offer and be firm. If he really wants to sell it, he'll call you back.

I'll tell you to wait. That and winter is coming on and a bike that's out there now with 15 k on the clock is going to be another model year older next spring.

also, check traderonline as a reference what's for sale in your area. Certain models will draw more money than other very similar models.
