I'm writing a book and one of my characters have extremely similar physical appearance and acts like Lestat from Vampire Chronicles. I had done this on purpose because the character is supposed to admire Lestat, and, thus, act and dress like him. Is this considered as plagiarizing?
Also, in my book, my characters makes some connections between themselves and characters from other books. Is this also considered as plagiarizing?
thx.

If you make him a lestat copy and don't mention, poke fun, or make it clear he's a shabby replica, that is absolutely plagurism.

I guess why even go near that anyway? Make him just different enough. Why use someone else's idea to the T? Flip it on it's head- that's the point of writing. No one will want to see the crappy Lestat anyway....cuz he's not Lestat.

It's impossible to be entirely original, because every idea has been done in some form or another- it's blending everything fresh that's exciting.

I would say try again with something new- and if you borrow someone's idea, flip it on it's head and turn it inside out, or ust borrow a sliver of it. That's how you use the inspiration for ideas, and not plagurize or write crappy fan fiction.

No, no, NO. I would steer far away from even using any description that is similar to Lestat. Even if your character fancy's him and tries to dress like him, it still is plagiarism. You could get the author's permission, but I highly doubt she would grant you access.
