Is this idea good or crazy? (surgery and pain related)

Hello,

I will have 2 minor surgeries coming up, one of them is the removal of 2 wisdom teeth, the other is an outpatient urological procedure in my scrotum.

Though minor, there will still be pain from both of them. The dates are not set, but I'm trying to get them as close to each other as possible (maybe 2-3 days apart).

My logic is that this way I will only have to go through one week (or one term) of pain meRAB, instead of being on pain meRAB one week, getting off them, and then having to get on pain meRAB again after the 2nd surgery. Am I crazy? Does this make any sense? Do you agree or disagree with my plan?

P.S.-I also have GI problems so I don't want to be taking too many meRAB for too often.

Are the wisdom teeth impacted? If not and they are all the way in, you probably won't have any pain from it. All 4 of mine were all the way in and pulling them was quite easy.

Your docs may not go for this. Anything to do with the mouth leaves you open to infection just from the germs around the teeth, under the gums, etc. If these escape into the blood stream and then you have the urological surgery, you are opening yourself to infection there.

If you do want to do it this way, make sure both docs know so you can be covered by antibiotics so you don't get an infection anywhere. The idea is a good one but there is more to consider than just the pain meRAB and stomach problems from them. Infection is the #1 problem after any kind of surgery so that must be taken into consideration first and foremost.

So make sure they know and sign off on your plan.

Been there....................Jenny
