Is this how a tattoo apprenticeship should be?

I recently went to a tattoo shop to ask about an apprenticeship and this is pretty much what they told me: They're looking for someone, but they have to prove their dedication. They want the apprentice to be there four to five days a week, usually from open to close. The work is described as being "Mostly clean-up work." It's unpaid.

I go to college full time and have a part time job on the side and they seem fairly uncooperative when it comes to this. They said if I have school two days a week then that's fine. But it's not.

Also, they said it may be anywheres from 8 months to 2 years. And I definitely wouldn't get to handle a gun at all before the 8 months is up.

Is this how tattoo apprenticeships usually are?
