Is this dangerous

I have been having a lot of headaches and sinus problems and my dehumidifier bucket wasstarting to need cleaning every (I usually just clean it once a week and empty it every day). I swab tested the intake grill and it came back with enterobacter amnigenus 25,714 CFUs/sq in.

As the house runs humid and the dehumidifier is on carpet on cement on the 1st floor level (half underground with front door level with driveway) I was told not to shampoo it and I sprayed the carpet with a disinfectant.

What can I use to disinfect the fan, etc. in the dehumidifier? Don't know how serious this coliform bacteria is.

Thanks.

Try using a mixture of clorox and water to kill it. But make sure that there is something under it so it doesn't get on the carpet and discolor the carpet. Bleach will take the color right out of the carpet.

Another option would be to use the spray mildew shower cleaners that are for sale in the bathroom cleaner sections. It would probably work just as good, What you are trying to do is to get rid of the mildew so I would give it a go. Again make sure that there is something covering the carpet.
