What kind of photography? It is a well rounded beginners camera and will, yes allow you to take good 'photography' pictures. It is an entry level DSLR. that being said, for an ameteur/ advanced ameteur, yes. It has all the features a beginner could need, well maybe not all of them but you definetly won't be dissapointed. But if you have little or no grasp on how a camera works, or how to control the settings and what they mean, then this is probably not the most ideal camera for you. Sure you can use the auto setting, but what creativity can you get out of that? Anyways, the camera itself is fine, works great and is fun to use if you have never owned a DSLR. And you won't NEED Photoshop for anything unless you have no talent. I have seen many pictures taken with this camera that are great. As a matter of fact, I was looking at this camera and a few others and decided to go with the 1000D or XS instead. It had little improvements, some minimal, some more obvious, but for nearly the same money, hey why not? You will certainly be pleased if you truely are dedicated to photography and you want a tool that will enable you to take stunning images with a little imagination and a bit of creativety.
