Consider your talents and strengths, academic and otherwise. What is one thing you do really well?
I believe one of my strongest qualities, both as a person and academically, is my leadership skills. In most situations, I prefer working independently, but when placed in a group I find that my leadership skills shine through. I am excellent at organizing the thoughts of a group as a whole and coming to conclusions that satisfy everyone involved. When conflicting ideas or situations arise, I listen and consider both sides of the situation. From there I can collaborate the opposing ideas and reach a middle ground that both parties can agree upon.
In most group situations, you will usually find one or more people who expect a free ride and depend on the rest of the group to pull their weight. Although I've found it unrealistic to have high expectations of these individuals, I've discovered that I can usually motivate them to contribute to the project, and when I cannot I am never hesitant to pick up the slack.
My major is psychology, and I believe that these traits, along with others, contribute to both my passion and qualification for the career. Patients need a strong leader to help guide them in the right direction, but also a good listener who is flexible and able to compromise specific treatment in order to be beneficial to the individual.
if you say yes/no, please provide some sort of reasoning or examples to back up your answer.
also, we were asked to keep the essay to a maximum of 300 words.
