I'm planning a backpacking through Europe trip for May/June 2011. It involves 15 days in Spain, 8 in Italy, 3 in Munich, 8 in Ireland, 3 in London, and 3 in paris. I looked up a plane ticket to/from Europe, hostels for each place I'd be in, how much it would cost to go from city to city (whether via bus, train, budget airline), and metro passes for the cities, if needed. I got a number around $2200 for all of that (Flight, Hostels, travel within and between cities). Is this a realistic number?? I still need to figure in the cost of attractions/sights, and cost of meals. But in my research I've seen MUCH bigger budgets. I know with attractions and food, the number will go up...and I know that I'll need extra money as a cushion in case of emergencies...but does $2200 sound like a realistic number for that trip, or is something not right?? I'm just looking for people who have personal experience backpacking/traveling and can compare my cost to theirs. THANKS FOR THE HELP! :)
