I drive a 2000 civic coupe it has about 140K on it and my friend my friend wants to trade me his 98 Acura CL 3.0 it has about 150K but it is a Vtec and well it has leather seats and is better looking on the outside than my Honda is this a fair trade or should I ask for some extra money?
Mechanicaly both cars are on the same level.

I wouldn't do it without considering the risk involved.

The Civic is one of the most reliable vehicles ever built in the world.

While the Acura is generally more luxurious and equally reliable car, the Acura CL was famous for having transmission issues.

A friend of mine had a 2003 CL that turned 120K miles and the transmission went about a month ago. It was going to cost him $2500-$3700 to get it fixed, so he just traded it in for a 2004 Infiniti FX35.

The requirement for a new transmission could make your 'deal' head south really quick.
