music
Music is something that is grasped, held, and stolen. We want to feel angry or touched, or dangerous in the way that makes your hips slide from side to side as you walk, moving tantalizingly beneath the thing fabric of your clothing. Dangerous; because nothing is sexier than danger. Nothing can make your blood boil more. But these words are not in our vocabulary at the time, and so we steal the emotions of the artists, and for one glorious, shining second, he can cradle it in our hands, laying there letting the the sound surrounding envelop our bodies, and fill our minds. the lyrics saying more than just words, the beat and the sound saying more than the lyrics.
and these moments, these stolen moments, are replayed again and again, until they are memorized, know by heart. And still, they are loved and forever heard. Never quite forgotten, because every song is loved by one person or another. Whether it is the twenty year old woman with honey blond hair that listens to the main stream, cookie cutter music that everyone has heard.
Or the old man with the plaid shirt, who likes to listen to the music from when he was a boy. Or the young man who listens to the heavy metal that screams in his ears with pounding authority. All the way down, through the spectrum, to the thirty year old with jet black hair pulled into a tight bun who listens to classical for the quiet, tortured, yet almost orderly chaos of it. and the thirteen year old girl with chocoalte brown eyes and a shy personality who listens to country for the way it makes her feel at home- safe.
This is music- the word does not do it justice. Those small, seemingly pointless words and sounds, put together to culminate into sweet, sweet music. the melody that themes our journey through the blue, treacherous waters of life.
Something that questioning, confused adolescents can relate to. something that middle aged parents can remember by.
something that lets us know we are not the only ones. music is love and loved.
Music is ability
Music is identification.
Music is unrefined, unrestrained, un denied, and undeniable.
Music is forever.
