Is this a good salary for a recent college graduate?

I'm graduating this spring and I just got offered a lab position and it pays about 35,000/year with benefits, paid vacation days, etc. It's third shift (11pm-7am) but if someone in one of the earlier shifts leaves, then I'll get that better time. The commute is only about 25 minutes, but it means that I'll have to continue my long-distance relationship with my boyfriend (he graduated last year so he moved back home). He lives about 300 miles away, so it's not bad, but it's not the ideal situation either. I'm thinking that I'll work at this job for a year and save up some money, and then move down to where he lives.

My question is, is this a good salary for someone who's recently graduated (or about to graduate) college? I was excited at first until I thought about all the factors, but then again, the economy's bad so I guess beggars can't be choosers.

I'm not complaining, but I need some time to think it through. I've talked to a bunch of people I know already, but it would be nice to talk to people I don't know about it. I feel really bad because my boyfriend is much smarter than I am, and he's gone on so many interviews only to be rejected for people with more experience. This was my first major job interview and I got it. Both my boyfriend and I have the same science degree from the same school but the difference is, he's got a higher GPA but I have a bunch of lab experience.

Sorry about the long post, I'll give you a thumbs up just for posting an answer. Any insight would be really appreciated! I'm just having a lot of mixed feelings about this.

That is a good salary for a new grad in research.

Really, in this market new grads should be thrilled with any professional job they can get. A lot of your classmates will end up working at Wal-Mart in a few months.

I wouldn't feel too bad about your boyfriend, lab experience is pretty easy to get as an undergrad but he didn't make the effort.

what u have done ???
Like BA Bsc or BE ???
if it not a technical course your salary is fine...
else its very less.....
