It is a good image however it doesn't completely work for me: if you're gliding, you're not exactly wielding your stature. Gliding shows smoothness which I believe it is what you're going for, but it also implies sneakiness and guile, whereas the other image (wielding his stature) implies boldness and impunity. Perhaps come up with a better word than glide.
