Is this a good idea? And is it weird dating a close friend? All Opinions welcome! 10 Points to best answer!?

Alright so here is my situation... I have a very close female friend who I would like to ask out. The problem is that I am away at college for the next 2.5 years and I feel that that would be unfair to her. (2 and a half hours of a drive) I do make it home about 1 weekend every month and a half so I could see her then. I was thinking this valentines I would drop a package off on her front door with a puzzle to solve. I would take a box and put a piece of wood, the letter U, the word Like written on a piece of paper, the number 2, a monopoly pass Go square, the word "ON" cut from a magazine, and a date (like the fruit) in the box. (the decoded message is "would you like to go on a date" I would also have a false bottom on the box with a rose in it. What do you guys think??? It's a little corney but we are like that. She will also know it was from me. Is it weird dating a close friend? Will it make things Awkward? Any advice would be appreciated.

Maybe the reason you're so close is because you reallly like each other. And i know that if a guy did that for me i'd be estatic. Won't know till you try =]
 
since there one of our close friends you should know a lot about them i say go for it! but if things do go as planed it could ruine a beautiful friendship.
