Are you sure were not being lied to? I think you will get a credit for $300 only, which will be applied to your $300 plus tax programing.

The installer needs your number to contact you, and I am sure if you owned a business you would not give out your employee's phone number.

Standard system $99 - $50 = $49
PVR system
$299 - $150 = $149
HD system $299 - $150 = $149
HD PVR system
$599 - $300 = $299

I am interested in the HD PVR Dual tuner at that price, the deal expires at the end of December, and your supposed to get a credit of somewhat, I'll jump to buy this if it really is that great of a deal.

Hey Westmanguy, the most agrresive dealer in Western Canada for BEV is Visions, why would you not deal there? Just a suggestion. When I move,it will be through Visions. If you buy they can play with the price. Why not rent and get total warrenty.
I do see your prodicament, if you rent or buy will they upgrade at N/C? I have heard a few things that when your contract is up they will upgrade at n/c if you rent, a CSR said it will not be before. Workfor bell has said the opposite. So until it happens I would not beleive anything. When have you heard the MPEG4 will take place?

Maybe somebody knows if this is factual or not, but do the recievers operate on a different frequency? I know when I was trouble shooting with the CSR she'd put me on hold and I'd hear a click on the phone. I recall reading in the manual that this was caused by the recievers.

My dream would be to have a Plasma HD in every room of the house with a 9200 attached to each of them with all the programming possibly available with BEV.

So I could watch TV in the Living Room, Kitchen, Bedroom, and 2 bathrooms with dual tuner.

Just a pipe dream, but its not under something I would do if I came into the lottery!

I would get all the providers and receivers if I had the money!

I thought the same thing a few years ago and was not happy with them. I have since bought my plasma from them and a couple of other accesories and have been very happy. They have a 15 day return policy and 15 day price protection policy aka 30 days. You can return for any reason in the first 15 days and after that it is price protection for an additional 15 days. Also on their extended warrenty if you buy and do not use, they give you a store credit for the entire purchase after it expires. I think that is not bad. FS and
BB are also good, but I know you can play ball with Visions more. That is whatI have done.

I know a manager well here in Winnipeg and get good prices, Iam buying my daughter a camera it is the Cannon A530 retail on the street is $249.00, FS is $227.00 and my manager contact is giving it to me a $200.00.

Food for thought.

The receivers will check for a dial tone then dial out, the click maybe the receiver checking to see if the line is free.
You do not need to have them plugged in. You can also order your movies online. The only thing is that bell might call to make sure your receivers are in your house.

Well I finally figured out the problem at FS and registering the PVR. It was kinda my fault as I had already purchased an "All in One" package online and was sent confirmation of this. I guess this confused the system. I thought it wouldn't matter as I thought it was registering the product not me and my personal information. I thus made a slight change and changed my phone number and voila it went through.

Hmm so now I just called CS, clear speaking lady who I understood and she suggested I just leave everything (install date etc) instead of canceling the intial "All in One" package.

I agreed as by changing this, I maybe given a later date. Hopefully this all works out and I am credited the correct amount. I can see this getting a bit messy.

Thanks

you're not reading my post...i said most receivers only have about $20 margin in them...meaning the 4100 costs about $80...the 6120's have a cost around $280 and the 9200 have a cost around $580...$20 margin on a $600 unit is far from 15% profit...it is just over 3%...this is one of the reasons why many of the smaller dealers stopped carrying the product...tiny margins on hardware and mandatory registering of product means they can't be bothered with it.

EVERY BEV retailer has that system for $49...that is what the current promotion is on purchasing new systems...50% off (applied as a bill credit) EVERY NEW system.

I save stuff to my DVD recorder hooked to TV2, and it's nice to be able to watch something else while I do that. I also listen to the Galaxie music channels in my office and it doesn't matter if my kids are watching the main TV at the same time.

Yup. Guide prefs are separate. You can't tell that both virtual receivers are in the same box most of the time.

Yup - you record the bitstream, be it HD or SD, and you can watch the show on either output (with reduced-to-SD quality on the TV2 output, of course). The hardware is well done on this unit.

A couple of questions that I would really appreciate some help with. I am finally switching to a HDTV. I will have two other SD TVs in the house as well. I will be going with the PVR. Is it possible to buy the 9200 and rent the 2 bottom end receivers? What would be my best bet for value?

Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.

the credit will show on your bill as if a payment would show up...you WILL NOT get $300 plus taxes for a credit, that is against the law...Rebates and Credits NEVER credit tax...so if you bill is $100 plus tax ($114 in Ontario), after 3 months, your bill would be $342...your $300 credit would be use up, and you would only pay $42 in your 3rd month...rebates aren't applied on the pretax price...discounts however can be...the 50% off rental package is discounted by half, so when it comes time to apply the tax, you are taxed on the smaller amount...that is the difference between rebates and discounts.

hopefully that makes sense.

Workforbell maybe you could answer a few things for me.

I am getting a 9200 HD Dual-tuner PVR, I have decided for sure.

I live 1 hour away from Brandon MB, a city of 60 000 and could get the system and dish at Future Shop.

I would rather do it in my town though at my local dealer (Home Hardware) because that will make the install more swift and effecient then going through BEV. B/c the local dealer always sets up the installs anyways.

So the thing is I don't think my Home Hardware (local BEV dealer) isn't to knowledgeable on these deals. I know I have to put $600 up front and my first bill is credited $300.

So assuming this can I, purchase the system at Home Hardware (my local BEV dealer) for regular $600 price, get it installed. When the installer calls in to authorize and set up my package will the BEV account automatically credit me $300 on my bill?

So assuming that goes all well if it works, I won't be paying any bill for well lets calculating this,

I am getting:

Digital Standard - $27
5 theme packs - $20
HD - $10
Rental of 1 standard receiver $3
--------------------------------
$60 / month

so $300 divided by $60 is = Works out perfectly to 5 months without any bill. So that is good. Will I be taxed at all in those $0 months? or the tax won't start until I get my credit drained off?

Side question: they charge the $1 for west feeds of US nets, I am getting this already on my HD pack and for my second rented receiver I can use timeshifted canadian nets if I need. Correct?

-------------------------
Next big concern: Renting a standard receiver for $3 / month.

Can I get the rental receiver from my Home Hardware (local BEV dealer), or do I have to go to Bell directly (1-888-SKY-DISH) and order the rental receiver and get it shipped out. I would not need this installed when I get it. If my 9200 and Dish are up (I will make sure the installer has the line ready for my second TV anyways) I will simply and easily install the receiver and call BEV and authorize it right?

Next:

MPEG4 upgrades in a year. Will both my receivers be useless with the change to MPEG4? Will BEV free of charge replace both receivers for the MPEG4 switchover (I know for sure the rental one will be switched)

So the concern comes to the 9200 I own, when they switch to MPEG4, will my own 9200 be replaced free of charge, will thier be a small fee? Will I have to buy a new one?

I don't mind putting out 50 bucks to get it replaced and upgraded but I do mind if I buy the 9200 and its useless in a year.

-----------------------------------

Next can anyone confirm if BEV is for sure getting National Geo HD and Showcase HD??

Anyways your input on these issues workforbell will be much appreciated. If anyone else can answer some of my questions feel free to also.

Thanks a ton! Westmanguy.

Edit: Thanks for the reply Canada45: For internet safety reasons I always say I live in Brandon MB, I actually live in a town of 2500 1 hour away from their. Not going to reveal name though. All my posts are still accurate I get all the same services offered in Brandon (cable / digital cable, cable internet, MTS, MTS internet, MTS Mobility, Rogers Wireless).

So their is a Visions in Brandon, but I want to go through my local BEV dealer Home Hardware, which will make install process ALOT easier. No third party crap.

I am starting to worry about this MPEG4 upgrade switch-over thing though. Like I said though I don't mind putting out $50 for my 9200 do be replaced to MPEG4, but I do mind if my receiver is useless in a year and I have to go new.

Ok workforbell this is where I really need your expertise!

I am buying a 9200 this Tuesday from Visions! I get it for $550 there plus the first bill $300 credit. So over all the credits I get a 9200 and install for $250. Amazing deal IMO. Go Bell!

So I get a warranty too of 1 year. Will last till Dec. 2007.

My question is for my 9200 when MPEG rolls out in Q3 or Q4 of 2007:

Will it be completely free swap?

Will it have a small fee to it? You see I don't mind a $50-$100 fee, but for $100 + then I will be upset.

The new 9200 box that will be swapped in for MPEG4. Will it be basically the same box exactly (all same features) but with MPEG4 capability. Or will it be newer with different features and specs?

Its a commercial business. The guy hadn't contacted me when he was supposed too. BEV wasn't willing to contact the guy and get him to call me so I said can I have the number, no go.

If the installer doesn't call me and BEV won't call the installer and BEV won't give me the # to call the installer, what am I supposed to do?

I am lucky enough that the guy called today.

BTW workforbell, your posts are very helpful, what is your postition in Bell (not specific).

Are you exectutive or a CSR in BEV, landline, DSL, etc.??
