my favourite schooling fish are rummy nosed tetras. they tend to form a fairly tight school and are really striking fish with red noses and black and white striped tails. the more the better, but get at least 6. Rummies do appreciate a more mature, planted tank that has been cycled for a few months. They're also great "indicator fish" since the red on their noses fade if they are stressed due to bad water conditions etc. My rummies are constantly on the move swimming from one end of my 6'long tank to the other... I have 6 right now, but have had as many as 20.

im at this point only using a 20 gallon tank as had to change my 75 gallon up for my beardy

danios, guppies & neons all school but consider how big is your tank? it has a lot to do with what kind and size fish you can have also you need to consider filtration needs go to the beginners guide at fishlore.com to study how then go to liveaquaria.com to find fish
