is there steelhead or salmon fishing near wakefield, mich. in sept?

I'm planning a short vacation to sunday lake, near wakefield, michigan this fall(sept). Are there any places within an hours drive where one can fish for steelhead or salmon? If so - what type of equipment an lures are needed?
