i have a baby beta fish ( girl ) and lately when i change her water, it smells HORRIBLE! i clean it regularly ( every 4 days) but it still is almost unbearable! is there something wrong with my beta?
Do you have a heater?
You should only change half of the water at a time and make sure it is dechlorinated and at the same temperature as the tank water.
You could be overfeeding the fish. Its easy with bettas. Remember, the fish uses his home for a bathroom also. If it really smells bad, that mean the water is very poor, even though you say you change it alot. How big an area is this fish living in/ a small space will dirty up much quicker the a large on, and "bowls" never stay clean long.
well, how long have you had her and have you had a male because she could be pregnate and produsing more waste. Dont worry about it unless it changes color. and just to be safe i would dump all the water out and i would put the rocks from the bottom of the tank, and put them in a strainer and pour boiling water on them. and scrube out the tank ( NO SOAP ) then put evrything back together then from then on only dump out half the water and every 6 mounths repeat the process.
