Is there something in the environment in the United States lowering the IQ?

I get the feeling that there is something in the environment maybe atmosphere making people, myself included, contributing to a lowering of IQ.
As I write this a possible answer comes to mind which is the chem trails dropping barium or whatever, fluoridated water, and the garbage we eat.
I say this because when I'm in other countries I feel I'm able to think more clearly and I feel better physically.

Television, video games, junk food bingeing, myspace, YouTube, pretty much anything time consuming that doesnt stimulate any thought processing....

A feeling of well being is not the same as your IQ. What you need to track down are statistics relating to the average IQ. For you your feeling of well being in other countries may be to do with the way in which a new environment stimulates you. Perhaps you are a born traveller. Get out there and write a few travel books. Your new career awaits you.

no thats the american attitude , I am glad I live in OZ we don.t have that problem.

Thumbs up for Gregory! Yes, I do believe food additives and colorings, mercury in the atmosphere, etc. is contributing to some lower IQs, but I feel the main reason is our society - our standards for education. Back in the day, a higher education used to be something people would dream of and strive to achieve, but now it is greatly lacking funding, it is not (how do I put this correctly) a standard for society - I believe a lot of young people think they can live off of welfare, get special grants from your state by having baby when their babies themselves, and becoming famous. Here is something really shocking for you: India has more honor students than the United States has students (and I believe they have it worse than we do in some cases).

I live in the US, and my IQ is doing just fine.
Although, this could be because I live in rural North Idaho. There isn't much of anything around here, including McDonald's.
While I've never been out of the country, I find that when I'm in places like California, I can't think as clearly. So I think food is the correct answer to this question. I binge on fast food whenever I'm out of my area. And while that's not very often, it happens on occasion.

I don't doubt that there is something in the water. I think there are tons of conspiracies that we as Americans are too afraid to look for or ask about. I am currently trying to switch my entire family to organic but you know older people...they are set in their ways. I wish people would become more self reliant and stop depending on others to get by. Like, why don't we plant our own food for once instead of importing it from other countries? Anyway, didn't mean to stray from the question. Things just bother me.
