...restaurant in NY or tristate area? I've just come back from a trip to Guatemala and i absolutely fell in love with the country. It's actually one of those spontaneous things you do with your girlfriends before you venture out into the real world. The food was exceptional and there is also a lot of technique to it (some people taught me), however when I did a search to eat it locally, the results came back rather slim. I think there are some hole in the wall places in queens and upstate, but nothing that captures the essence of that country when quite honestly the spirit is overwhelming there. I don't have the luxury of coming from a latin american background so i don't have family that is readily available to cook food at every wakening hour.lol. I would try to start a fine cuisine restaurant myself but unfortunately i'm still young and not too good with money. (i'm still in my prime, after college party time) Just putting a suggestion out there because my friends and I spoke about it while we were eating in Park Slope at a Peruvian restaurant and wondered why there wasn't a high quality Guatemalan restaurant in the New York area. I've noticed some other central american restaurants in the area like El Salvadoran restaurant in Jersey. If there's anyone out there that has a entrepreneurial spirit, i highly recommend considering opening up a fine cuisine Guatemalan restaurant. If need be for some inspiration, take a look at some of the upscale Latin American Restaurants in the Tri-State area such as Coco Roco (Peru)- Bklyn, Sofrito (Puerto Rico)- Manhattan, The Flying Cow (Argentina)- Bklyn, Cuban Petes (Cuba)- Montclair, NJ.
Best Wishes!
