Is there some sort of grammar rule for this?

Pretend we have these two sentences.

"I have done everything with a great attitude"

I want to reword it, there I can change it to "I have done nothing with a bad attitude"

However, if I have a sentence like "You are not my father because he can't play the piano"

If I tried the same thing, it won't make sense as they don't make sense. "You are my father because he can play the piano"

I was guessing something about how the first one has only 1 and the second one has 2.

Ideas? Thanks.

"I've done everything with a great attitude."
... although that sounds very full of yourself! xD

"I haven't done anything with a bad attitude" sounds a bit better to me.

"You are not my father because he can't play the piano" <- Double negatives, I think...

You are my father because you, like him, can play the piano" something like that would sound better :P

A is a boy
A plays piano
therefore we can conclude that boys play the piano
Logic doesn't always make sense but it can be useful.... like when you are figuring out a puzzle
I thought this was at least an intelligent question. that is more than I can say for most and then they get mad when you answer sarcastically. I had a question removed yesterday because the man asked how can I become an actor, then he mentioned that his cousin is an actor in Hollywood or something. I suggested that he ask his cousin. they actually removed my answer.

the seconed one would make sense if you said "you are my father because you can play the piano" and i think the first one would make more sense if you said "I do nothing with a bad attitude".

You only have to neg only a part of the phrase, so it's "You are my father because you can't play the piano." (I think).
