Is there really any alternative treatment to surgery that works or a particular diet?

When I was in high school one of the better players on the soccer team, who was in incredible shape and partook of an extremely strict diet in order to stay that way, had some of the worst acne I'd ever seen in my life.

If you want to eat lots of fruit and veggies and cut out the greasy, fatty stuff to become a healthier person more power to you but changing your diet is going to have zero effect on your acne positively or negatively because the condition is 99% hereditary. The best thing someone can do aside from taking medication is get lots of time in the sun.

Acne is definitely linked to diet. Cut out the milk and you will see a difference.

I have been an advocate of apple cider vinegar for the last 10 years and taking acv has been part of my daily routine for over 5 years. I eat a healthy diet and exercise very regularly, but I attribute my lack of illness over the last 5 years to the benefits of apple cider vinegar. I try to keep my body as alkaline as possible (to much acidity allows bacteria to develop) and acv helps to regulate the body's pH balance. My favorite brand is Body Ami and I am giving it to all of my frienRAB as a holiday gift.

A friend of mine has severe acne and has been accepted for surgery to treat it. However the treatment is only 50% safe and has some awful side effects. i.e. swoollen face. He has tried everything under the sun antibiotics, creams etc. He is a teenager and the acne has made him shy and lose his confidence. Is there a genuine alternative to surgery?

Do you drink it?

I've never heard of it doing anything for acne but whenever I get a sunburn I cover the area with apple cider vinegar and it makes it feel better as well as gets rid of 95% (if not all) of the peeling.

Maybe it does something but I'd say look at your own family and if no one from the last generation on either side (maternal or paternal) has had significant acne that is the reason you don't have it.

It could be possible that certain types of greasy fooRAB may cause blemishes if someone who eats healthy all of sudden starts putting back big macs and brownie sundaes with regularity but for someone who has moderate to severe acne diet has little to do with it. The case that started this thread is actually a perfect example- acne so severe the kid needed cosmetic surgery, in such a case changing diet would do nothing.

I agree that overall skin health is related to diet but acne specifically is almost entirely hereditary. If it could be cured by a simple change in diet it would not be the problem that it is for so many people.

I actually know someone who suffered from adult acne and starting taking apple cider vinegar. After one month the acne went away. She clearly had an irabalance that the acv helped resolve.

I would hope that some health care person could try a remedy besides surgery. Bill

Yes there is remedy. Stop drinking milk! There will be a difference in 2 weeks. Also in the meantime go to your health food store and buy some oregano oil and dab a small drop on each spot.

Any dermatologist will tell you that acne is never a result of your diet or what you do, although getting some sun never hurts.

Forget all the garbage about diet. Chocolate and greasy fooRAB etc. being a cause of acne is absolutely unfounded, an old wives' tales, at least that's what my dermatologists have always told me. Acne is primarily hereditary.

Go to a dermatologist and speak to them about getting Isotretinoin, if you haven't tried it already. There are some side effects but I've tried literally EVERYTHING and it's the only thing that's helped me.

I think it's bogus when they tell you diet doesn't matter. If diet didn't matter, why do people who eat horrible, greasy fooRAB, get a greasy looking face. Try eating a lot of fruits, veggies, and drinking lots of water.
