The US media is a mix of liberal, centrist and conservative voices. Also, the US media is largely owned by 10 corporations

Proven over and over again by poll and by factual information


Obama had 68% positive media exposure

Bush had a negative media exposure

Most journalists vote and give to democrat candidates
 
only bias of the media is the biases of the owners, see who controls the 10 corporations and you know who controls the media.
 
I have seen liberal bias in the media for years. I am now socially liberal (but fiscally conservative) and even though I am no longer pro-life I still see the bias in favor of the pro-choice side.
Fox is the only exception. They, of course, have conservative bias. I watch Fox, CNN and MSNBC to get things from several different sides.

And the corporation bias tends to result in the news stations obsessing on tabloid stuff.
On thanksgiving, a man shot 4 of his family members, including his pregnant sister, his elderly aunt and his 6 yr old neice. He then disappeared! Most people never heard about this because the media was obsessing over Tiger Woods. (they finally caught the guy, thanks to John Walsh of America's Most Wanted.)
 
Coming from someone who is neither a liberal nor a conservative, I do have to say that there is indeed a bias in media (news/entertainment/etc.).
 
The cable news networks is slanted in favor of liberals, even though fox news constantly has better ratings there are more liberal news aired on cable networks. The mainstream media is all liberal kool-aid drinkers who all think they will be the channel obama chooses as his state run media outlet when he starts shutting down opposing views
 
It's another GOP tactic. You're correct there's just as much right-bias garbage as there is left bias garbage. If not there's a bit more right leaning trash- depending on the topic. I mean, look at how stupid Americans are- is it any surprise the rest of the world regards your country as the as*hole of the earth? Full of loud, brash, obnoxious idiots who never learned the term "SHUT UP"
 
And these corporations are mostly run by liberal elitists like Viacom/CBS's Sumner Redstone. Memos from the boss are wonderful things. Bernard Goldberg wrote a very good book, Bias, on his experiences at CBS News, and their institutional bias resembles that at CNN, MSNBC, NBC News (where the liberal bigot Brian Williams is boss and anchor), etc, except Fox News.

Try actually watching news programs and pay attention to which networks report which stories and how they do it. That's how the rest of us learned that there is definitely a liberal bias in the national media.

And there's a reason for that - in journalism class in college, there are fewer "hard questions" than in the physical sciences or other tracks toward a professional education. Truth is relative in J-School (I minored in Journalism and was a radio announcer and editorial cartoonist for the student newspaper in college). So bias doesn't so much creep in as own journalists from the get-go. And that bias is predominantly liberal.

Nacho, I own a copy of Liberal Fascism, I agree with Goldberg's conclusions and your assessment of it.
