Is there other doujinshi on the same "level" as Evangelion Re:Take?

I recently reread Evangelion: Re-Take, and I found it, as usual, breathtakingly well-done. Seriously, it's probably one of the best (and few) doujinshis I've ever read. Which brings me to the question; are there other doujinshi from other fandoms that have the same emotional pull and effort put into them as ReTake has in it?

I've always been partial to Chado's Touhou Project comics myself, although some of those tend to be a bit odd (as you'd expect from a comic trying to make a coherent action story out of a bullet-hell shoot-'em-up). The Yukari vs. Ran series is especially nice.

I just read the dojin...
wow...the first 2 volumes grated me I have to admit...well okay

was expecting some misato and kaji action...not well you know

but I have to say I prefer shinji

being an angel and not an angst ridden emo kid...he was actually pretty darn charming and chivalrous, which works for his character. Asuka...well...ghosty asuka was a trippy experience and at the end of the day she still liked shinji, but then a stranger question is why didn't asuka know that it was actually gendo that shut off unit 01 and that's why shinji couldn't save asuka...
and speaking of gendo, he wasn't a cold heartless prude, and it actually worked. A lot of things actually did work in this dojin and the ending itself was very touching. The way that their daughter had a dream about nerv and no one believed that shinji was all cool. That was priceless.
Okay I liked it. Definitely a great story...and it can't be worse than the evangelion power rangers.

all in all...I read it twice LOL good story

You might also check out the Negima comic Negimaru (also by Studio Kimigabuchi,) although it's much heavier on the H-content than Re-Take was.

Actually, many of Kimigabuchi's comics take this bizarre dark-and-heavy twist. Crossing Azumanga Daioh with The Drifting Classroom? Greatest idea ever.

Toyble's Dragon Ball AF (translated here), while not the most emotional writing, is nigh 150 pages of perfectly accurate art. The effort placed into its art alone is moving enough.
