Is there anything in mythology like a book that records the history of mankind?

For example, a book that continuously records births and deaths, or the life of everyone in the world. It can be any kind of mythology - Greek, Mayan, etc.

Well, there is such a book in the hands of Destiny, one of the seven Endless depicted in the DC comic book series 'Sandman' conceived and authored by Neil Gaiman.

I think the Endless are Destiny, Despair, Desire, Death, Dream, Delirium and Destruction. Sometimes called by other names, but I like the primary 'D' names. There were 75 issues in the series. Excellent work.

The thread of life. It is spun by one of the sisters, measured by the second and cut by the third. They are the 3 Fates in Greek mythology; the Norns. The threads aren't independant of one another, they are all interwoven due to our complicated interrelationships and history, and all part of the great tapestry of life.
Also In Egyptian mythology, when someone dies Anubis, the god of the dead, reads his history from a papyrus scroll and judges him accordingly.
