...have to return them? Supposedly the bonuses were agreed on before this year.
 
It doesn't matter if they were agreed upon 3 years ago. Times change and so has the economy.
The bonuses should be given back until the company can pay the bonuses out of the companies pocket instead of the taxpayers.
 
I believe they should get the money that was legally theirs. However, the bonuses should have been postponed until AIG could pay them with the profits of the company rather than with the bailout money. Not because they HAVE to, but for the principal of the thing.
 
Bonuses should be calculated on a percentage of profits.

Why should our taxes finance bonuses for employees of a failing business, just because they are employees?

"It's my money and I want it now!"
 
No, and the Treasury Secretary knew these bonuses were agreed upon LAST YEAR. He should have re-negotiated, before the bailout, not faked indignation when the bonuses are being paid.
