Hi everyone,
Two nights ago I had my Nokia N81 stolen. It was a christmas present and I'm really pissed. Is there ANY chance at all of finding the thief? Any kind of help would be appreciated...thanks.

It's always possible to track a phone down, given the imei number, and whether or not your service provider facilitates that sort of service.

From what I've seen though, it's 99.999999% unlikely to be the case.

I'd say your phone is gone, but give your sp a call - see what they have to say, and what sort of assistance they can offer.

IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity...

and to the question... i believe the phone broadcast signal to the satellite where u get signal for ur phone so you can call... and the satellite can determine where the location of your phone is... just my theory ...

its not satellite tho its cell towers and it can triangulate the general area of the phone..also if the phone had gps i would imagine tracing IS possible but unlikely the company would do it

I've heard usage of the triangulation is only allowed for the police. That -- or if you're using your own cellphone for a hacked google maps triangulation or something.
