Is there any way to detect the sex of your baby besides ultrasound?

Ultrasound is pretty much it. Some people buy into the "old wives tales" about cold feet and sickness and how the baby is carried and so on, but the only sure fire way to tell is ultrasound.

Just for fun have you heard of the needle on a string?

Take a pin, needle, or wedding ring and attach it to a thread or strand of hair. Hold the dangling item over mom to be's belly while she is lying down. If the needle or wedding ring swings in a strong circular motion, you will be having a girl. If it moves in a to and fro motion like a pendulum, you will be having a boy.

I'm gonna try it when I get "more" pregnant!

Congrats on the little one!

There is a test you can take called intelligender, but it's not very accurate. Then there's this blood test you can do, but it's very expensive, like at least $150. If it's worth that much to you, you can google it.

All those symptoms or lack of have absolutely nothing to do with the sex of your baby, its just old wives tales, If they wont tell you what your having at your ultrasound then you just have to wait until the baby is born, I have 2 boys and 1 on the way and never had any morning sickness whatsoever, I have carried low with all my boys as well. I had spotting with my 3rd and with this one too I am hot all the time so those arent indicators of the sex of your baby, it would be nice if it were that easy

Where I live, the hospital won't tell you the sex of your baby during a routine ultrasound. I have a boy already and would love to have a baby girl and the suspence is killing me! Just wondering if there is any other way to determine the sex of a baby.. symptoms etc.

With my son:
- Had morning sickness for the first 3 months.
- Suffered from migraines for the first 3 months.
- After that, felt fantastic!
- Carried him pretty high up and was huge!

This baby:
- Had spotting in early pregnancy.
- No morning sickness.
- No migraines.
- Always hot (having hot flashes).
- Cheeks are always red and flushed.
- Having nosebleeds.
- And extremely fatigued.
- Carrying this one lower and not as big with my son at this point in the pregnancy.
These pregnancies are so different... pretty much from one extreme to the next. I loved being pregnant with my son, i'm 32 weeks along with this baby and just want it to be over! I know that every pregnancy is different but I would just like others imput on it! And for everyone's info, if I do happen to have another boy, I would love him just as much as if he were a girl :)

there are lots of old wives tails such as putting your wedding ring or engagement ring on a bit of cotton holding it above your belly and it spins in circles its a boy or it goes side to side its a girl or vice verser, although, im pregnant with my 2nd my first pregnancy was easy no sickness didn't show until i was about 6 months no change in my boobs nothing and we had a girl, this time i was showing at 10 weeks my boobs have gone up 2 cup sizes i had morning sickness evening sickness heartburn indigestion head aches everything and i was adamant it was a boy and so was my partner until we went for the 20 week scan and it showed we are having another girl. So it really is a guessing game until you have that scan, although i did go on the www.bounty.com website and did a gender guesser on there it said girl and that was right i don't no if that was just luck i compared it to my friend who is due the day b4 me and said she was having a boy and her scan revealed it was a boy. Gd luck keep us posted :) xxx

they always say which is a wives tale is if you carry low than its a girl, but if you look like your carrying a basketball in front of you, than its a boy.

im not sure if their is any other way to determine the sex of a baby, except for of course when you actually have the baby LOL!

but as you said you have different symptoms when you had your son com paired to you baby so i guess just think of it as your having a girl for fun than just wait until your beautiful baby is born.

good luck for your girl (from what you said it sounds like your having a girl for sure)
