is there any way to DEACTIVATE iphone ??

hi
i wonder if there is a way to deactivate iphone .
apple simfreed iphone i have here , but they said must be restored to make it simfree
its on 3.1.3 now and i dont want to update to 4 , no shsh saved.
any way to deactive it without restore ?
 
Put a different sim card in the phone then connect to iTunes accept the carrier update the your phone should be unlocked if sim freed by apple
 
Yeh but he doesn't want to activate!! As it is already activated ,he just want to apply the factory unlock from apple

when i put wrong sim and conect to itunes , iphone getting deactivated , and i got unactivated iphone , i then reconect to itunes , and iphone is unlocked :P
