Is there any way of me understanding 90210?

As most of you know, the third season of 90210 is premiering later this september. I was a dedicated viewer of the first season but missed the ENTIRE SECOND SEASON due to scheduling conflicts. Honestly give me your opinion if the second season was vital or if I can still go on and understand. Honestly, the last episode I recall seeing is where Annie calls the police at Naomi's party...after Naomi accuses her of sleeping with Liam....soooo ya
