I'm a displaced North Easterner and I have not been able to find any restaurant that serves true N.E Steamers here in Southern California. I'm located in orange county but I am willing to travel as far north as Los Angeles and as far South as San Diego. They are formally named "Ipswich clams" that are steamed AKA "Pisser" clams because of the stream of water that squirts out when you pick them up before steaming them.

They come from the cold waters of Maine and other North Eastern Coastal States.

It's bad enough having to eat chewy thick crusted pizza at everywhere that offers New York Pizza in Southern California, But I draw the line in the sand (pun intended) when it comes to clams - Manila clams are OK, but they are NOT true STEAMERS.

If Anyone is interested, I would like to form a clamming club that not only enjoys steamers together, but also Little Neck and Cherry Stone clams on the half-shell - What they call a Raw Bar back east.

Anyone that wants to join the club, please respond with your email and tell me what you like to eat from back east. If I get enough of you I'll rent a banquet facility and start monthly Steamers Club where we can have everything that you miss from the east coast flown in fresh.

With enough people in the club, we can do it on the cheap. They started one in San Diego, but it only lasted one year. I think that they tried to do it too often, but once per month is just right for a pile of steamers - Now let's get this party going!

Let me know...

Also, if you know of a restaurant that offers them currently here in So. Cal. please advise.

Thanks!
