Is there any compensation for people who've been wrongly convicted and jailed

when they are exonerated? I'm currently watching a television show where they are doing DNA analysis of convicted criminals who have spent many years in prison and have continuously proclaimed that they've been wrongly convicted. So far one of the men has been exonerated by the DNA testing he's been in prison for 26 years, convicted of rape. Family has died, moved away, he has nothing.

Are these people compensated in any way by the system that wrongly took everything from them? I mean think of how different his life could have been at this point if instead of wasting away in prison for the last 26 years he'd been out with his family, working, living.

A perfect example of over zealous government prosecutors. Our system fails us by lawyers going to the dark side. To protect us from evil law, there should be a appeal process not governed by a Judge or lawyer, but by Citizens to review these cases and hold lawyers and Judges to the same standards they hold us.

How many times do you hear of a Judge or Lawyer being sued for malpractice? Lawyers and Judges are a monopoly on our lives and money.

There is compensation in most countries for people wrongfully convicted. It varies on a case by case basis. Alot of the times the government doesn't like to see wrongful convictions reported as it makes the justice system look bad.
