Is there any American author that comes close to comparing to Philip Roth?

Roth is America's greatest author. This is without question. His work is unrivaled and he has the awards to prove this. He has won every award imaginable.

However, I do wonder if he is America's only remaining legitimate novelist. Can you think of any writer who comes close to matching Roth's talent?

Please don't even think of suggesting writers like Pynchon, McCarthy, or Oates. They are not exactly terrible, but don't even come close to being in the same league as Roth.
 
Umm, it is without question. Awards mean nothing to some people, and this is your PERSONAL opinioin.

I'd say Robb Forman Dew comes pretty d@mn close.
You seriously need to go get a life though. I don't think this is healthy!
 
I have a question for you: Are you Philip Roth?

That is not a real question, I know you're NOT, but honestly your obsession with him is verging on creepy. Art, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. So yes, I think there are better authors than Philip Roth in America. If you don't, then fine.
