Is there an Italian Institute of history & culture?

I suppose you could say I have a fond attachment to the Italian renaissance. Many facets of American modern society would not exist without it, and yet it is often overlooked. At most, my source for such worldly memories is wikipedia. But I want more. Regional colleges would only offer sugar-coated American history.

(and I have had a teacher whom was even biased against Italians)

What I want to know is: is there an institute in America that is dedicated to the education of Italian history and culture? The language is fine too.

Five star best answer if you could provide the closest thing that comes to mind in the region of San Antonio, Texas. Alas, that is not likely. This is predominantly a spanish-culture community.
