Is there a way to get more to show up on the active desktop?

The E61/62 has a huge screen, and the way Nokia's calendar shows up on the desktop, it seems like a waste of space to only have one line of information there.

Is there a way or a program that will show more calendar entries, or even better, Notes on the desktop? It just seems like a lot of empty space that could be put to better use...

strangely enough other people dont use active desktop because it distracts from the theme being used or the wallpaper. active desktop is actually a copy/clone of Active Desk and Active Today from Cibenix and lately Best Desk from Smartphone. however there is no version yet for s60 v3 yet. since nokia has made it even harder for 3rd party developers to make applications for this. And since nokia only knows the code for integrating into the desktop itself, organizer applications will integrate only via the menu key and a substitute "desktop" window. but a very powerful one.

Bestdesk for s60 v2 devices and description:

hopefully something will come up soon

Wirelessly posted (Series 60: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Symbian OS; Nokia E61/0618.06.05; 9730) Opera 8.65 [en])

this is definitely something i'd love to see addressed in future versions of s60.. I'd like it to be as customizable as winblows mobile is.

That was a not smart move by nokia...it seriously takes away from this phone's PDA functions.

You can freakin have all your To Do's and other upcoming info plastered all over the desktop on a Moto Q

Wait, how do you get 5 things to show up on the active desktop?

I can only get the (one) next calendar entry...not even any notes to show up

lol....good point...i've got 6 on my E50 and cant remember how many were available on my E61 but I thought it was capped at 6 as well. Perhaps he meant 5 things available beneath....ie...active mailbox, calendar, meeting, todo, anniv? donknow?

also...my E50 has the screen completely filled more often than not. It has a line for a missed call....new message....email inbox w/ the first 2 headers...then calendar relate info that fills the screen all the way to the soft key commands. I think my E50 is the first v3 i've had that displays 1 missed call and total messages on the active standby but the screen sure looks nice when all of the real estate is being used. i'll post a screen shot when it's filled!

The E62/61 doesn't show missed calls on the desktop - which is totally strange considering how big the screen is on the E61 and how small it is in the E50...

How much calendar related info does your E50 show on the desktop? My E6x is capped the one next calendar event...having a couple calendar events in advance posted on the desktop would be quite nice

I just got my E60 and I'm loving it... But right now mine has 4 events on active desktop. Two all day events and two appointments for today.

This is the first time that I've seen more than one thing on it, but I only had one thing scheduled for the last couple of days. Apparently I'm not busy enough

Eh, I'm pretty happy with having only 6 apps on top and several slots for other various info beneath. I usually have my music showing down there and maybe 1 calender entry as well as a to-do note. S60 handles this quite well. After all, we like are phones to be streamlined and well laid out...that is why we don't own windows phones

Ok, so it sounds like your E60 can show multiple calendar entries...

I feel like i've been cheated...lets just hope Nokia fixes this with new firmware for the E61

FN qwerky Nokia once again. I think My E50 shows the same amount of calendar events as my E61 did...it just adds the missed calls and new message line seperately. The E50s fonts are significantly smaller than the E61s which is why i'm assuming nokia decided to cram all of that into the desktop. I love having it on the desktop as I sometimes hit the end key after a missed call and forget to check it. It's a nice constant reminder if I forget to check a call or a message.
