My sister, who lives in Ohio, worked at Walmart for 4 years. Recently she was called into the office with the manager. Apparently, before she started her shift, she had purchased a box of Milkbones and a 6 pack of Mountain Dew. When she finished her shift, she left with her purchases with her receipt. Seventeen days later was when she was approached by the manager wanting to see the receipt for these items. She no longer had her receipt...I don't know who would save a receipt for these type of items. She was so upset that she quit her job on the spot. She has since been informed that it has been turned into the police department. Can they do this? Even if she would have been "shoplifting" (which she wasn't) wouldn't they have had to catch her on the spot? How can they demand to see a receipt for items purchased 17 days prior to approaching her with it? I don't understand how this works. But, I do understand my sister...a thief is one thing she is not.
