is there a reason

The backhaul lines to AK are considerably more expensive than within the continental US (a lot of it is via satellite), therefore, they can't absorb the cost as part of your monthly plan.

cople things, so keep reading for insights:
yeah i'm not really sure, they include Hawaii, but not alaska, probably due to low demand. Alaska is the least populous US state. also puzzling is that the per minute rate to alaska is the same as the rest of the US.

LEAP is well known for being among the first companys of this size to switch to an VOIP long distance platform. VOIP is extremely cheap and this was some time ago, very puzzling.

If you need to call someone in Alaska regularly, tack on one of the ILD packages. it is basically bundles priced at 5 cents a minute (a 44.4% discount off the normal 9 cents/minute) and will allow you to call alaska with those packaged minutes.

Anyone notice the addition of long distance to Alaska, Canada, Hawaii and Puerto Rico on the new rates that launched today? :hehehe:
