Is there a reason my Playstation 1 keeps resetting?

So it's quite old, but my ps1 games will only work on the ps1.

I'm playing Final Fantasy IX, but at random points when I'm playing -- nowhere specific -- the game will just reset! Is it my game, or the ps1? Is there a way I can solve this problem?
 
get a 360 or something, because that will happen to an old console. they are only made to last soo long....
 
It could be the PS1 just getting older. Do you have the newer PSone, or the original model?
 
it probably is jsut on its last legs, dodgy power supplies.
however you are fortuantly wrong onthe PS1 games only working on the PS1, ps2 gmaes cna paly too (as long as you use a ps1 mmeory card to save)
and it works on ps3 too, I'm plaiyng IX on my Ps3 past week(i'd paly X, but no ps2 compatibity on my version)
so it may jsut be a good idea to upgrade, PS2 are's pretty cheap nowdays especially pre-owned.
