Is there a plan available for me? (international student in USA)

Alright, so I'm an international student from Canada studying in the USA. I'm going to be here for at least another 4 years.

I've wanted an HTC Touch Pro (or the equivalent on whatever network) for the longest time. However, with any of the contracts I find, a problem comes up: as a student, I spent 4 months of the year at home in Canada. And during that time I wont be able to use my phone with contract unless I pay exorbitant roaming fees. But yet I still want the HTC TP, and moreover want to be able to use my phone without having the $70+/month go to waste for the 4 months that I'm home.

Anybody have any suggestions? I'm not limited to choosing only a Verizon plan, but I figure they might have something available that'll suit my needs as they're a pretty big organization.

For now, I've been using a monthly prepaid Virgin Mobile number

Well, knowing where you live (province) in Canada would help.

Verizon Wireless actually offers a plan that will work in Canada without any roaming fees. You will be roaming, but Verizon covers that for you.

Also, since your here for 8 months a year, you can change calling plans at any time. This means maybe while you're in the USA, change to a lower, cheaper USA only calling plan. Then switch to that America + Canada plan while in Canada.

Verizon and AT&T are the only two carriers that offer Canadian calling plans at this time (I believe). If I'm incorrect, please correct me. Also a cool thing about this plan with Verizon is you can call from the US to Canada at any time and receive no international bill calls. You can call from Canada and call the USA free also.

I'm not sure exactly how the Touch pro will work on this plan, but you would need to estimate an additional $30 on to the price you see on the link I'll provide (this is for the data plan---required).
