I am trying very hard to generate traffic to my site! Any real legit ways to do it?

I started a site recently all thanks to GDI (global domains international) and my site is a work in progress. My goal is to have a site where people can come to anytime and share whatever they want; Political views, life issues, quotes, poems, life stories, whatever!
