i do not know why you would want to purchace and install a phone system at the cost of around $1000 (give or take depending on model and features) if you only have one phone line...

most DECT phones have an intercom feature... and will allow you to transfer a call to a specific handset...

then there are small business phones that have integrated phone system features - available @ staples.. but they come in 2 line and 4 line models...
 
...only one phone line? Is it possible to have a phone system in a house where you can answer a phone in one room, and if the phone call is for someone else in another room, we would like to be able to inform that person that they have a call. Do they make phone systems like that? Thanks in advance!
