Is there a online game like Sid Meier's civilization?

i like Sid. But i don't own Sid Meier's yet. I was wondering if there was an online game that is similar to Sid Meier's?

Yes, from Steam there is Cities XL
it i multiplayer, and you control a city!

Also there is Empire Total War, another from Steam, Empire has many different games in the series, you can watch Youtube videos and see which one you like best!
