Is there a name for this non-Wilhelm scream?

There a certain scream sound effect, that's not the fabled Wilhelm scream, that gets used quite a bit in animation. Examples:

- The Aaaaaahhhhhh! Real Monsters opening (towards the end, just before the creator credits are flashed)
- in the Powerpuff Girls episode "Paste Makes Waste" at one point Elmer, turned into a paste monster, steps on some guy and when he lifts his foot, you hear this scream
- In the South Park episodes "Do the Handicapped Go to Hell?" and "Probably", this scream occurs during every exterior shot of the River Stix condos in Hell.

It's a really cool scream. Does it have an official name?

This thing doesn't really seem to have a real name. It was dubbed "The Howie Scream" since the first time it was heard was in John Woo's Broken Arrow when Howie Long's character got kicked out of a moving train and fell to his death. Since then, it's been used everywhere from (again) John Woo's Face/Off to Star Wars: Dark Forces. It kinda shows up all over the place, but no one seems to know where it's from.

So there's this, the Wilhelm, and the one that I've seen some cartoon characters do when falling off a cliff, the one that goes something like wooohoohoohoo! What's the name of that last one? I'm probably butchering it, but it's the sound Goofy makes when he falls of a cliff.

"nods" Actually, it's called the "Goofy Holler", but yeah. It was in Pete's Dragon, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and... a whole bunch of other stuff.

Some of us Stock Scream fans are trying to give it the name "Howie Scream" since it's rumored that the movie it appeared in first has a character named Howie who screamed like that. Basically just trying to mirror the way the Wilhelm Scream got it's name.

It also sounds a lot like the scream some of Dr. Cortex's henchmen make in the early Crash Bandicoot games. Notably in the factory levels in CB2.

Star Wars: Dark Forces (the first time I ever heard it) also predated Broken Arrow by a year.

Never heard it called "The Howie Scream" (though that makes since being that most people seem to know it best from Broken Arrow), but my friend and I have always called it "Wilhelm's Ugly Cousin." LOL!!

Well I guess "the Howie Scream" would be okay.
After all, the Wilhelm Scream was named after a character who yelled it in "Charge at Feather River" (1953) and yet the first film to use that scream was "Distant Drums" (1951).

This was also heard in one Dexter's Lab episode, "Dyno-Might", where Dexter's new robo version of Dynomutt was attacking people for minor offenses. The scream was used when someone got his butt scorched for littering. :D
