Is there a law protecting people from coworkers who are mean, nasty and rude?

I work with a woman who is just a horrible person to have to deal with on a daily basis. She is rude, nasty, miserable and hostile to both customers and other employees every day, all day. She makes our office a hostile and fearful place to be. When I complained about her they told me, "Oh, well she has a lot of issues." Yes, I believe she has issues but I also believe that she uses her "issues" as an excuse for bad bahavior and as an excuse to treat every one else like dog doo.
 
Yes, there is. It's called different things in different places but it refers to a hostile environment.

If your HR will not deal with this woman's issues I don't know what to tell you. She should have been chastised a long time ago.

Call your local labor board. I don't think this would be an EEOC problem. Unless one of your male co-workers wants to complain but I don't know what his reason would be.

Get your co-workers together and write up a complaint. Use different words than mean, nasty and rude so it sounds more professional.
